Technology

The Technology competency area focuses on the use of digital tools, resources, and technologies for the advancement of student learning, development, and success as well as the improved performance of student affairs professionals. Included within this area are knowledge, skills, and dispositions that lead to the generation of digital literacy and digital citizenship within communities of students, student affairs professionals, faculty members, and colleges and universities(ACPA & NASPA, 2015).

Experiences

Through campus visits, analysis of contemporary issues in student affairs, developing a professional resume, and initiating a professional portfolio, I was able to gain valuable professional experience in the practice of student affairs and higher education administration. The filming, directing, editing, and production of the required video project allowed for a creative technological take on educational information.

Supporting Coursework 

Developed practical skills and valuable knowledge related to becoming an efficient and effective leadership educator in modern postsecondary environments. Those skills were used to develop effective educational leadership programming. In particular, my educational leadership program was designed, implemented, and assessed through a website to promote technologically-rich learning experiences.

Supporting Coursework 

Sr. Student Services Coordinator, Johns Hopkins University

Able to lead and demonstrate a commitment to universal design principles in technological implementations that ensures the frictionless use and application of technology by all. Specifically, universal design relevant to ensuring an inclusive community for all students with disabilities.  

Created a monthly, virtual newsletter that stemmed from the proactive creation, use, and empirical evaluation of technological tools and digital spaces for students and faculty.

Tutorial Assistant, Florida State University 

Engaged in systematic practices aimed at ensuring student-athletes across all demographics have access to technological academic resources and are educated in their intelligent use and implementation for solving problems and enhancing learning.

Provided leadership that demanded digital information and technologies to be used in a manner that is ethical and in full compliance with national and state/province laws as well as with institutional policies listed in the student code of conduct. 

Legal Assistant, Florida A&M University 

Provided training and instruction for the use, adoption, and evaluation of newly developed digital strategies for the office like new technology programs and systems. Also, I assisted in the mission of providing creativity-enhancing technologies for students, colleagues, and other educational stakeholders.
